“Every family has its own language.”
Set at the end of the 1960s, as Swaziland is about to receive independence from United Kingdom, the film follows the young Ralph Compton, at 12, through his parents' traumatic separation, till he's 14.
A tenderly observed, yet heartbreaking, coming-of-age story. It captures the bittersweet ache of childhood fractured by adult turmoil, set against a backdrop of societal change. Feels like a memory you can't quite shake.
