Rahmat travels to a host of islands in a vast salt pan in order to collect the inhabitant's tears for an unknown purpose. He is joined on his mysterious journey by a young boy searching for his father. As their travel nears its end, a potent critique of Iran's political leadership emerges.
This film feels like a somber, dreamlike journey through a desolate, yet strangely beautiful landscape. It's a deeply melancholic and allegorical experience, with stark, poetic imagery that evokes a sense of quiet despair and profound human suffering under an unseen, oppressive hand. A haunting, slow-burn meditation.
